Red Oak Wood and Finishes
Red oak works well for furniture making as well as cabinetry and other home furnishings and fixtures as it stands up well to the tests of time and everyday use.
Red oak is primarily found in the Eastern United States and are the most common species of tree found in the hardwood forests of the East Coast. Red oak's sapwood ranges from white to light brown while the heartwood has a pink/red tone. It has a straight grain and a coarse texture. The wood itself is heavy, hard and has medium stiffness and bending strength. It is very resistant to wear and tear. |
